NOFI and Egersund Herøy establish Egersund NOFI AS

Joining forces to strengthen fisheries services in Northern Norway

NOFI AS and Egersund Herøy AS are establishing the jointly owned company Egersund NOFI AS, with equal ownership at 50/50. The new company will provide fisheries services and related products and services to the fishing industry in Northern Norway, with a base in the Tromsø region.

The establishment builds on positive experience from previous professional collaboration between NOFI and Egersund Herøy, as well as their shared ownership in NOFI Oppdrettservice AS between the Egersund environment and NOFI.

Egersund NOFI AS combines NOFI’s local presence, facilities, and personnel in Northern Norway with Egersund Herøy’s expertise, technology, and market position within fisheries services—particularly towards the trawler segment. The company will offer services such as wire spooling, maintenance and repair of trawls and fishing gear, production of new trawl bags and sorting grid sections, as well as sales of wire, rope, netting, and hardware.

“Through Egersund NOFI AS, we combine the best from two strong professional environments. This provides customers with a better and more complete offering in trawl service, fishing gear, and related products, tailored to the needs in the north,” says CEO Asbjørn Rørtveit of NOFI AS.

Gunnar Kupen appointed Managing Director

Gunnar Kupen has been appointed Managing Director of Egersund NOFI AS. Kupen has extensive experience from the fisheries and fishing gear industry and has served as Head of Fisheries at NOFI since 2013, with responsibility for operations, customer relations, and the development of fisheries services for both coastal and deep-sea fleets. He has strong knowledge of the market, customer needs, and the operational requirements within trawl, wire, and fishing gear services.

“With Gunnar Kupen as Managing Director, Egersund NOFI AS gains a leader with strong local roots, solid industry experience, and high operational execution capability,” say the owners.

A long-term industrial partnership

NOFI AS and Egersund Herøy AS are establishing a long-term industrial partnership through Egersund NOFI AS. The ambition is to further develop capacity, expertise, and service offerings in line with market needs.

“The establishment of Egersund NOFI AS is an important long-term step to ensure a stronger presence and improved service capacity in Northern Norway. Together with NOFI, we are building a robust professional environment in the Tromsø region, combining local presence with our expertise and market position within fisheries services. The goal is to provide customers with a more complete and accessible offering—close to the fleet and tailored to the needs in the north,” says Jarle Mong, Chairman of the Board of Egersund Herøy AS.
